We first met her on Laguna Beach. She was the sweetheart we loved to root for and her character remained the same as she moved on to yet another reality show. Lauren Conrad has always been the likable California girl next door, but lately, she has taken advantage of her celebrity and pursued her fashion dreams.
I watched Lauren grow up—from high school to college and beyond—and I grew with her. She always had great advice and now I still look up to her as a fashion and beauty role model. She’s not your typical reality star. She doesn’t love the spotlight and she doesn’t let fame get to her head. If you’ve read her books like I have, you know that’s true (the main character in her series is modeled after her).
Lauren jump-started her post reality show career when she became the first ever spokesperson for Mark. cosmetics, a branch of the Avon empire. She then went on to make guest appearances on several TV shows like America’s Next Top Model, Family Guy and Greek. She then went on to release her own line at fashion week in 2008, but after it didn’t do as well as expected, she launched LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s, which has been a huge success.
In addition to her fashion ventures, Lauren Conrad is also an author. She has written seven books, both fiction and non-fiction, and has recently started the online beauty community, The Beauty Department. Lauren also recently launched her third fashion line, Paper Crown, in the fall of 2011.
